Rishikesh is situated on Himalayan foothills beside the Ganges River. The river is considered holy, and the city is renowned as a center for studying yoga and meditation. Temples and ashrams (centers for spiritual studies) line the eastern bank around Swarg Ashram, a traffic-free, alcohol-free and vegetarian enclave upstream from Rishikesh town. If you are planning travel to rishikesh ,few tips and guidelines would be beneficial for you.
1)If you are travelling by car ,you can park your car in many parking facilities beside roads ,Fees-Rs 150/- 6-7 hrs.
2)Cheaper hotels (Rs 750-1000 per day)are available in plains ,hotels on hill side are expensive(Rs 2000-2500) ,but provide easy go through to tourist spots.
3)Rafting Cost Rs900-1000/- per person which is must to do activity ,only if river flow is good.
4)If you want to bath in water then suggestion would be to choose site before laxman jhula as water flow is nominal here and family ,kids can enjoy water bath in mediocre water level.
5) Camping + Rafting per person Rs 1500/-
6)Bungee Jumping can be enjoyed at Mohan Chutti ,ahead of rishikesh .jump height 83m
Time slot-9:30am -2:30pm.
7)Food-If want to enjoy food at cheaper price opt for veg food on roadside stalls and eateries ,not at bus station as they are lil expensive irrespective to food they offer.
8)Laxman jhula -Off course this is must to visit site ,which requires no briefing.
Plan 1 day trip to rishikesh as it is enough to explore places & sites ,always carry water bottle and snacks to munch as there would be times you will not find eateries at regular intervals .
