Udaipur is best sorted tourist destination in winter season, if you are travelling from Delhi or elsewhere as couple here is the cheapest travel guide for you.
1) Book train from Delhi (either Sarai Rohilla or H Nizamuddin) prefer overnight journey as it is 11-12 hrs. Journey .Cost SL= Rs395-400/- per person/A/C 3 tier= Rs1100-1300/- per person.
2)Book Budget hotel around lake pichola area or fateh sagar area as maximum tourist destination are at walking distance .Cost for 2 people Non A/C rooms=Rs 450-500 per day /A/C rooms=Rs 1000-1200 per day .
3) After getting down at Udaipur station book personal auto to your hotel .Cost Rs =40/-
4) Get into your hotel, get fresh and move to your first destination.
a) City Palace –Situated around bank of Pichola Lake withstands tall buildings of city palace ready to enthrall you exscuitive collection of remnants of history of kings and queens .One of the best place to visit in Udaipur. Entry Ticket Cost per person –Rs 330/- .Entire tour may take 2-3 hrs. So you can spend hot day time in palace.
b)Jagdish Temple-It is an Indo Aryan Temple by Maharaja Jagat Singh ,located near Badi pol entrance of city palace
c) Pichola Lake –After you get out of Palace you can visit Pichola Lake and enjoy boat riding in Lake .Cost per person-Rs 150-250 depending on distance of ride.
d) Karni Mata Temple –After you are done with boat ride, you can enjoy cable car ride which takes you to top of one of the peak where Karni Mata temple is situated .Main attraction of this place is you can get mountain top view of entire Udaipur .It is most visited destination for clicking pictures .Cost per person of cable car ride-Rs 106/-.
e)Gulab Bagh –Situated near Lake Pichola is Gulab Bagh which is thickly covered forest area .Major attraction here are different types of vegetation ,Fountains,Gulab bagh with many varieties of Roses ,Toy train for kids. Cost per person –free
f)Bagore ki Haveli–It is situated on Ganguar ghat on Pichola Lake,known for its architectural splendor,structure has around 100 rooms with fine decorations of mirror work and there are many reminiscent of glorious era.

–Always carry water bottle with you as day time is quiet hot, there are many water coolers in areas like City Palace, Gulab Bagh were you can refill your bottles, Hence Cost of water-free.
Food–There are many budget restaurants in Udaipur were you can relish delicacy of Mewar culture, but if you want to really save money on food, then you can go for homemade food offered by local homes at really cheap price eg .Shobha ji food service in Vishawakarma building, Kalaji goraji area near Lake Pichola area offered food at Rs 50/- per person which was neat, clean and better than hotel foods.
For Day 2 my personal advice would be to book a personal auto or cab for sightseeing. Cost for auto for 2.5-3 hrs tour- Rs 200/- .
a) Fatehsagar Lake-Lying to the north –west of Udaipur, Fatehsagar Lake is major tourist spot in city .Best for clicking photos .If you are lucky you can visit Fatehsagar dam if its functional .Cost per person-free.There is also aquarium in vicinity one can visit .For picnic spot there is Nehru Park with boat shaped restaurant and mini zoo for kids.
b) Saheliyo ki Bari– On banks of Fatehsagar lake is located majestic garden known as the courtyard of Maidens who accompanied princess after her marriage to Maharaja Sangram Singh. Main attractions are lush green lawns, canopied walking lanes and magnificent fountains which are said to work without electricity only via water pressure .Entry Ticket cost-Rs 10/- per person.
c) Sajjangarh Palace-Also known as Monsoon palace it is located at Peak of Bansdara Mountain overlooking famous Pichola Lake. Best time to vsit is evening as you can witness monsoon cloud and click photos.
d) Vintage Car Museum-Located just few kilometers away from City Palace is Vintage car museum which is an awesome place for automobile and car lovers. Entry Ticket per person-Rs 350/-.
e) Bada Mahal-It is an incredible structure marvel; this massive palace encloses beautiful garden, green landscaped lawns, vast courtyards, massive pillars and terrace, royal balconies, fountains & apartments.
f) Sukhadia Circle-It is the preferred site for picnic, one can take a nice stroll by round about or go for boating in large water body which has beautiful 21 –foot tall three tiered fountain .Preferred time for visit-Evening.
g) Bada Bazar–It is famous for traditional art & craft work. It is perfect place for tourist to indulge in shopping or buy souvenirs and gift at reasonable prices.
